Horton Community Hospital provides community-based healthcare services ranging from outpatient specialty clinics to inpatient and emergency care.

Emergency Care

The emergency room is staffed around the clock by qualified providers and nurses. Laboratory and radiology services are available on call 24 hours a day.

Surgery

Outpatient surgical and endoscopic services include colonoscopy, EGD, abdominal procedures, cataract and other eye surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and orthopedic and podiatric procedures.

Inpatient Care

The hospital’s 25-bed unit cares for acute and chronically ill patients across the age spectrum. Care may be provided as outpatient treatment, observation, inpatient treatment or through the swing-bed program.

Swing Bed and Skilled Care

Swing-bed services support patients who need skilled care in a rural hospital setting after an acute illness, injury or procedure.

Radiology

Inpatient and outpatient imaging services are interpreted by board-certified radiologists. Available services include:

• Radiography and fluoroscopy
• Computed tomography scans
• Magnetic resonance imaging
• Ultrasound, including obstetric sonograms
• Bone-density scans
• Nuclear medicine
• Mammography

Full-Service Laboratory

The laboratory provides diagnostic and monitoring tests to help clinicians evaluate health conditions and guide patient care.

Rehabilitation Services

Rehabilitation programs serve hospital, skilled-care, nursing-home and outpatient populations. Services include:

• Occupational therapy
• Speech and swallowing therapy
• Respiratory therapy

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation combines supervised exercise and education for patients with qualifying heart conditions. Participation requires a physician’s order and a documented diagnosis.

Outpatient Specialty Clinic

Specialty services are available by appointment inside Horton Community Hospital. When a primary-care referral is required, clinic staff can assist patients with obtaining the necessary information.

Rural Health Clinic
